What I’m Working On Today: Wolf

I saw this wolf and thought that it’d be awesome if I could clean it up and make something for my husband with it.  The cleaning process in Paint.Net wasn’t that bad, but I think I could have done a better job.

I ended up shredding several pieces and shedding some internal tears over getting the intricate design to be cut.  The blade that came with my Portrait hates acute angles and tears up the 65lb paper that I’ve been using.  I tried all the tips for improving it, but none worked.

The end result was a simple cut out.  I’m waiting on my 60° blades and thicker paper before I try the intricate part again.

What I’m Working On Today: Pony Designs

I know I haven’t posted anything this week.  I’ve been working on a bunch of different stuff, but haven’t completed enough to feel that it’s worthy of showing.  At this point, I feel like I have to show something, so here’s what I was fiddling with today.  I’ve been taking screenshots of Netflix and trying to Pixel Trace them with Make-The-Cut.  The flowers aren’t playing nicely and I want to edit them out in Paint.Net!  There’s too many colors in that one too, I think, to cut out and have it look nice.

Sample Cut Of Silhouette’s Weekly Freebie

The new Silhouette freebie shape of the week came out today and my mom asked how big it was, so I did a sample cut out.

1 1/2" wide x 4 1/2" long x 3/4" deep
1 1/2″ wide x 4 1/2″ long x 3/4″ deep

The default size is small. It reminds me of the smaller boxes of candy by the cashier at a grocery store for a single serving. And I used 65lb (cover?) paper and so I wouldn’t put heavy stuff in like chocolate. Candies like smarties would work better.  This would be a great favor box for kids under 5.

Save Money Alternative Tools #1: Hook (Weeder)

While the tools Silhouette offers are specially designed tools to work with their products, you may have something around the house already that could work as well. When I saw the picture of their hook, I realized that we had something similar-a double ended tooth pick & scaler.  It doesn’t quite have the hook shape, but I was able to weed this lettering with it.

Try it yourself and if it doesn’t work out, you can always order theirs on their online store which is available 24/7. ^_^
